1. Introduction

Tavi AI ("we," "our," or "the app") is a language learning application for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Tavi AI.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Tavi AI is designed with a privacy-first architecture where your data stays on your device.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• AI Provider API Keys: You enter API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini to power your lessons. These credentials are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain on your device. They are never transmitted to our servers.
• Language Preferences: Your selected target language and proficiency level, stored on-device using SwiftData.
• Lesson Content: Vocabulary you save, lesson history, and progress data are stored on-device only.

Information Collected Automatically

• Purchase History: If you subscribe to Tavi Pro, Apple processes the transaction via StoreKit. We receive purchase status information to unlock Pro features. This data is not linked to your identity.
• Diagnostic Data: We may collect crash logs and performance data to improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or account information.
• We do not use third-party analytics SDKs that collect personally identifiable information.
• We do not use advertising identifiers or tracking pixels.
• We do not operate servers that receive or store your data.

3. How Your Data Flows

When you take a lesson in Tavi AI:

• Your device sends a lesson request directly to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) using your API key.
• The AI provider generates the lesson content and streams it back to your device.
• Tavi AI never acts as an intermediary. There is no Tavi server in the middle.

Your relationship with the AI provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms of service.

4. Data Storage

• API Keys: Stored in iOS Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential storage system. Keys are protected by your device's hardware security.
• App Data: Lesson history, vocabulary, streaks, and preferences are stored on-device using SwiftData (Apple's local database framework).
• No Cloud Sync: Your data is not synced to iCloud or any cloud service by Tavi AI.

5. Third-Party Services

Tavi AI connects to the following third-party services only at your direction:

• OpenAI API — when you choose ChatGPT as your AI provider. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic API — when you choose Claude as your AI provider. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Google Gemini API — when you choose Gemini as your AI provider. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Apple StoreKit — for in-app purchase processing. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

All app data is stored on your device. You can delete all data at any time by deleting the Tavi AI app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data, including API keys from the iOS Keychain.

7. Children's Privacy

Tavi AI does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app requires users to have their own AI provider API key, which requires an account with a third-party AI provider.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
